Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami,
Florida on November 30, 1977. American electro house music producer, D.J., and
record producer Steve Aoki is his stage name. and music executive. He is the
third child of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His father was a wrestler who
also founded the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older siblings who are
sisters Kana who is frequently known as Grace as her middle name Grace, as well
as brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a
model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach, California and graduated from
Newport Harbor High School, where he was a member of the badminton varsity
team. He later attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. He graduated
with two degrees in sociology and one in feminist studies. He produced DIY
records and held underground performances from his Biko room at the Santa
Barbara Student Housing Cooperative when he was in college. The Pickle Patch
was born as a concert venue. He also participated in student activist
activities during his time at UCSB. He created an organization called the
Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In his early 20s he
was establishing his own record label that was called Dim Mak, a reference to
his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. In March 2010 the singer came out with I'm
in the House, a collaboration w/ the Zuper Blahq, a pseudonym of the Black Eyed
Peas singer will.i.am. The track made it to No. The song reached No. 29 on the
U.K. Singles Chart within the first week of its the release. It reached the top
5 on both the U.K. Indie Chart & U.K. Dance Chart. It was shown in
MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as in the feature film Piranha and the trailer for
Think Like A Man. In a May 2010 interview with HitQuarters, Lucas Secon, the
producer-songwriter, confirmed that he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on the
single. The song was named the top-grossing American dance artist by Pollstar
in 2012. He has worked with artists such as Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO,
Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis
Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He's known for
remixes of artists like Kid Cudi
