Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed, blonde-haired woman with an exuberant personality. Meg Ryan was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan), who was an English teacher, and one-time actor. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. Her ancestry includes Ruthenian, Polish and Irish as well as German. ("Hyra") is her Ruthenian surname and "Ryan" is her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Meg was graduated in June 1979 Bethel high school, Bethel. Meg relocated to New York City and studied journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan is her name change, started acting to earn extra cash while she was finishing her education. Her debut on screen came in 1981 with a short appearance as Candice Bergen’s daughter in George Cukor's final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was chosen for the part as Betsy in the soap opera as the World Turns (1956) after she was able to audition. She was a part of the cast from 1982 until 1984. Meg was also a character in the TV show One of the Boys (1982), but this show was eventually cancelled. In 1984, she relocated to tinsel town and landed a job in the western television Series Wildside (1985). Meg had a small role in Top Gun (1986), and then was cast in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) which was a film in which she starred with Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she once again starred alongside Quaid. (1988), and got wed on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg made an appearance in the 1989 film When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the restaurant scene became famous. Meg was twice nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. Meg was also seen together with Tom in the hugely successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and was nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg decided that she would act against her peers in 1994 when she played the character of Meg as a mother and wife who is alcoholic in the film When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Following that, Meg went back to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) & French Kiss (1995). In 1994, Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award for being "Woman of the Year" and was selected as being one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world 1994" by People Magazine.
