Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. They was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and went to the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma knew that she would like to become an actress and, for a number of years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school where she was taught singing, dancing and acting. At the age of ten Emma was already performing taking part in Stagecoach productions and school productions. Casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (192001) which was the film adaptation J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel. Emma was found by her Oxford theater instructor who introduced casting agents to Emma. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman informed Emma and Rupert Grint that they were given the roles of Hermione Granger as well as Harry Potter. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It was the top-grossing film in 2001, breaking records in terms of opening-day sales and opening weekend take-offs. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely distributed, called Emma's performance "admirable." Emma won the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a Film Film and was nominated for a further five prizes. Following the release of the first film in the hugely successful Harry Potter franchise, Emma became one of the most well-known actors in the world. Hermione Granger was her role for almost 10 years in the Harry Potter films. Emma received two Critics' Choice Award nominations from Broadcast Film Critics Association.
