Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
as well as furniture moving. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November
17th, 1978. Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel started acting as
an adult. At 13 she was in Shakespearean productions at a summer theater camp.
After graduation, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in Theater.
After her debut on television in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, she
starred on Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. This comedy-drama is about the
struggle of Shakespearean theater groups. Rachel was awarded a Gemini Award for
her performance in 2003. Her first big role was in Mean Girls (2004) as Regina
George instantly landed her on the list of Hollywood's most sought-after of
promising young actors. After that she was cast alongside Ryan Gosling as the
romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004).
The Notebook was a hugely successful film at the box office and became the most
loved romantic comedy for a young audience. McAdams came into contact with
Gosling while filming. They began dating until mid-2007. McAdams and Gosling
soon found themselves engaged and began to get married. McAdams starred in The
Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008) in State of Play (2008) and The
Lucky Ones (2007), respectively. She also appeared in The Time Traveler's
Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international smash Sherlock
Holmes (2009). McAdams played the role of the confident producer in Morning
Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's fiancee, who was a materialist
in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to romantic drama with The
Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. The actress also stars with Ben Affleck in
Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) as well as alongside Noomi Rapace in
Brian De Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's
"Supporting Actress of the Year" Award and the "Breakthrough
Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
